I was laughing my head off this morning at work. Which is good, because work has been a pretty depressing place to be lately – but that’s another post.
Anyway, remember my campaign to keep my staffroom clean? Remember how I’ve begun to toss out dishes and cutlery that lazy colleagues have left on the counter or tables? I threw out two mugs this week after having looked at them half-hidden behind the electric kettle for three days. I did not feel at all bad or guilty about this.
Then this morning, in one of the classrooms, I was wandering around, helping one group of kids do their socials studies assignments while their teacher concentrated on another group working on French grammar. I was at one end of the class near the teacher’s desk and worktable, while their teacher was at the other end near the coat area and cupboards.
I happened to glance over to the worktable while I was waiting for one kid to re-read a particular paragraph of the social studies textbook. There on the table, amongst a mess of papers and books was one of the mugs I had thrown out the day before! Partly filled with coffee! This teacher had actually missed that particular mug and had gone to the garbage can and fished it out and washed it and used it! I couldn’t help but laugh loud and long – in my head, of course.
Do you think I made my point?

Thank you,
